MÜHLE's journey in the world of shaving began in 1945 when Otto Johannes Müller founded the business after returning from the war. He started by making the first MÜHLE shaving brushes and designing the iconic MÜHLE signet.
In 1965, Hans-Jürgen Müller, the next generation, took over the company, which had grown to 40 employees. Under his leadership, MÜHLE expanded its reach, exporting products to 36 countries worldwide. However, in 1972, faced with pressure from the German Democratic Republic, Hans-Jürgen Müller was forced to sell the company, and MÜHLE became a state-owned enterprise.
After rebranding in 1987, the business focused solely on manufacturing brushes for the state. During this time, Hans-Jürgen Müller became a self-employed brush maker. The winds of change blew in 1990 when a new Europe emerged, and Hans-Jürgen Müller regained his family's business, trading as Hans-Jürgen Müller KG while retaining the iconic MÜHLE signet.
The post-reunification era was challenging, but MÜHLE persevered. Slowly but surely, the company won new customers and rehired former employees, celebrating its 50th anniversary in 1995. The new millennium ushered in a boom, as MÜHLE expanded its offering to a full range of high-quality wet shaving goods, firmly establishing the MÜHLE brand.
In 2021, MÜHLE launched the first safety razor designed with the needs of all users in mind, regardless of gender, further solidifying its commitment to innovation and inclusivity.
